Abstract
Trace element analyses of stream sediments in Sri Lanka have been carried out to identify existtncc of ultrarnafic rocks in areas other than those demarcated as serpentinite zones. Residual soil analysis was used to confirm the results of delineation of a scrpentinite zone by photogrammetric study. Inter-element correlations are shown to be significant in these studies. The analyses also indicate anomalous levels of gold (>20 ng/g), along the Highland Group and the Highland-Eastern Vijayan boundary as demarcated by Abeysinghe.
